The Fault In Our Stars
By John Green
Have you ever fallen in love with someone so hard that you couldn't picture your life without them?
The Fault In Our Stars is a book about the love between two teenagers who are battling cancer. Hazel and Augustus fall madly in love without even realizing it. The couples bond is so strong and even though they are only together for a short amount of time, they would do anything for each other and could not live without each other. The author John Green shows how every person has a special someone out there and even at your darkest times, someone will always be there for you and help you get to a happier place. This book is sad but it's a really incredible love story.
Personally I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sad books and romance. The writing is somewhat advanced so i would suggest it for an older audience. The book is inspirational and I had to read it in all one sitting because once I began I just couldn't stop reading it. Every page is filled with so many different emotions and so ,any things happen that you just can't stop.
Three main things that definitely spoke out to me in this book was the main character Hazel, the theme of cancer, and love. Hazel is a teenage girl who is just trying to find herself and be a person while also battling cancer. I can relate to Hazel because she's around my age and she is trying to find herself and have friends and family and look for someone who will say "you are beautiful" just like Augustus did. The theme of cancer really had an effect on me and really drew me closer to this book because i want to maybe study oncology and possibly be working with cancer patients in the future so it was amazing seeing a story from a person with cancers perspective. Finally, I can relate to the topic of love in this book because teenage love is everywhere. Being a teenager I can say that relationships are new fun and exciting and seeing someone else's perspective of a relationship can be exciting even if it's just Augustus saying "I'm in love with you" to Hazel as he did.
To people who have read a book similar to My Sisters Keeper or or anything involving an illness among children or adults, this book might be good for you. It's definitely a tearjerker so if you're into sad books this one is definitely for you.
